Back in May we saw the first trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service, the upcoming adaptation of the Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons comic The Secret Service.
Now a second trailer for the movie has been released, and can be watched below. The adaptation stars Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Hamill, Jack Davenport, Mark Strong, and Michael Caine, and is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class). It follows a secret spy organization that recruits a street kid that shows promise but has no actual experience into their ultra-competitive training program just as a massive global threat emerges.
20th Century Fox has released the first trailer and poster for Kingsman: The Secret Service, the first film directed by Matthew Vaughn since 2011’s X-Men: First Class.
Kingsman was adapted by Vaughn and frequent collaborator Jane Goldman from the 2012 Icon Comics (a creator-owned imprint of Marvel) series created by Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) and is a contemporary take on the British spy movie genre. Newcomer Taron Egerton plays a cool-headed street youth recruited into a extra-secret government agency by Colin Firth and put through an intensive training program designed to mold him into part of the next generation of globe-trotting super spy.
You can check out both the trailer and poster here below.
20th Century Fox never lets a little thing like their upcoming films having not actually gone into production yet stop them from setting release dates. That’s common practice for most studios these days, but Fox was one of the earliest pioneers of that practice, and for better or worse the filmmakers working under them have had to adapt or hit the bricks. Nothing personal, just business.
In keeping with that fine tradition, the studio has recently announced a slew of new dates for some of the biggest projects on their production slate for the coming years. Even though the long-in-development Fantastic Four reboot helmed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) still hasn’t began shooting, its hypothetical sequel already has a release date set for July 14, 2017. Fox is also continuing to exploit their other profitable Marvel properties with another Wolverine sequel debuting on March 3, 2017 (with James Mangold, director of last year’s terrific The Wolverine, returning), and a mysterious Marvel feature set for July 13, 2018.
Over the past few years, the pair of Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar have become relatively connected at the proverbial hip. Be it their take on Millar’s Kick-Ass or the much talked about adaptation of Superior that is set to take shape, their friendship doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon.
According to The Playlist, the pair will be working on a big screen take on the recently announced comic, The Secret Service, which finds Millar and Vaughn teaming with artist Dave Gibbons. Vaughn holds the film rights to the project, and it should be looking to get going in the near future.
