$3 MP3 Album Deal: ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ Soundtrack
  |  @   |

This week, This Is Spinal Tap, the soundtrack to the film with music by Spinal Tap, is on sale in MP3 format for only $2.99. The CD is currently $11.99. Both contain 2 bonus tracks.

If you’ve seen the movie (it’s one of my favorites of all time), then you know how awesome the songs are, even if they are done by a mock heavy metal band formed by SNL comedians. Songs like “Heavy Duty,” “Hell Hole,” and “Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight,” are pure metal awesomeness. Just listening to tunes like “Stonehenge,” “Sex Farm,” and “Big Bottom” will bring a smile on your face, remembering the scenes from the movie.

I’ve had this soundtrack on cassette since it came out and the songs are still in heavy rotation on my iPod. I can’t say enough of how friggin’ amazing this album is, so for $3, please, get this album now!!!

Our friends over at /Film noticed something interesting about IMDb’s rating for the film This Is Spinal Tap: It goes to 11.

If you look at the entry on IMBb you’ll see that the maximum rating listed for the film is 11, though you really can only rank it between 1-10. Still, it looks damn cool, and that was quite clever.

In the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, the heavy metal group Spinal Tap has amplifiers that go up to 11, because on a standard amp if you’re all the way up on 10 and you want to go louder, where can you go from there? Nowhere. Hence, these amps go to 11.

Watch the clip here below from the film where guitarist Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) is explaining his need for volume to documentary filmmaker Marty DiBergi (director Rob Reiner).
