In the interest of full disclosure, let the record show the following: I am a HUGE fan of not only the Green Lantern mythology, but particularly of Hal Jordan. There is something about his character that has stuck with me through the years, and after it was announced, you couldn’t get me to shut up about Green Lantern. Every time new casting announcements were made, or new footage was released, I would be glued to my iPhone/laptop. This was my most hotly anticipated film of the year by far, and while it may not have been all that it could have been, I really liked Green Lantern.

‘Green Lantern’ Wraps Shooting; Writers Already Well At Work On Sequel
  |  @   |

A couple of days ago, comic book writer and talent behind many Green Lantern books announced via his Twitter account that filming of the movie adaption starring Ryan Reynolds had officially wrapped.

Despite the fact that the movie has yet to prove its worth at the box office, that’s not preventing Warner Brothers from taking steps toward setting up the potential sequel. A couple of months ago the studio hired Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, and Marc Guggenheim to begin work on a treatment of the script, and now Michael Goldenberg has been brought in to write as well. Goldberg performed a rewrite on the script for the first movie from a treatment by Berlanti, Guggenheim, and Green, so this appears to be their way of doing things.

Goldenberg has previously penned Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as well as Peter Pan (2003), Contact, and Bed of Roses.

He eventually becomes one of the primary enemies to the Green Lantern. He’s also the son of Senator Hammond (played by Tim Robbins), who has never really seen eye-to-eye with his son.

Geek Peek: Set Photos From ‘Green Lantern’ & ‘The Thing’ Surface
  |  @   |

Nothing to go dancing around crazy-giddy-happy about, but a couple of images from some exciting upcoming movies that are in the beginning stages of production have been released online.

The first comes from Comic Book Movie, who have gotten their hands on a sneaky photograph from the set of Green Lantern. The movie stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, a pilot who discovers a space craft that has crashed and finds himself presented with a special ring, making him the newest member of a group known as the Green Lanterns. The movie also stars Blake Lively as Jordan’s boss and eventual love interest, Mark Strong as the evil villain Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond, and Tim Robbins, who will play the Senator father of Hammond.

The set image actually shows what is assumed (as you can plainly see) to be the aforementioned space craft that crashes on Earth and sets all of the events of the movie into motion.

Hum a little tune to yourself and frolic over to the other side to check out these two first peeks at these movies.

Tim Robbins Joins The Cast Of DC Comics’ ‘The Green Lantern’
  |  @   |

Back in December of 2008, there was a fun little rumor that Tim Robbins would be showing up in Iron Man 2 as Tony Stark’s father, but sadly that was just not to be.

Now comes word that Robbins has actually been cast in another fatherly comic book movie role; the actor will be playing Senator Hammond in The Green Lantern. The Senator is the father of Peter Sarsgaard‘s Dr. Hector Hammond character, a pathologist who gains psychic and telepathic abilities from a meteor and eventually becomes a villain in the story. The father and son duo have always had issues seeing eye-to-eye.
