Spoilers below for Ash vs Evil Dead

Last week and every week of this season of Ash vs Evil Dead has pushed the bounds of decency and splattered the screen with ALL the bodily functions. After having to face his long-dead sister Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss), Ash (Bruce Campbell) was locked up in Baal’s crazy vision. Ash dealt with talking puppets, and faced his friends”¦ who weren’t his friends, but rather fellow inmates. In what were perhaps the best acting performances in the show’s history, Campbell and Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly) shined through the darkness of the world Baal (Joel Tobeck) created. In the end, Ash agreed to help Baal destroy the Necronomicon”¦ just one problem, Pablo (Ray Santiago) is becoming the Necronomicon. Is Ash seriously a defeated man, or is this his way of outsmarting ultimate evil?…

Wolf Creek TV Miniseries Lucy Fry as Eve Thorogood

Wolf Creek
Episode 1.1 “Billabong”
Created by Greg McLean
Directed by Tony Tilse
Written by Peter Gawler
Starring: Lucy Fry, John Jarratt, Dustin Clare, Deborah Mailman, Damian De Montemas, Maya Stange
Pop TV
Air date: Friday, October 14, 2016, 10pm ET/PT

Back in 2005, Greg McLean directed Wolf Creek, a low-budget horror film based on true events. It told the story of a group of backpackers who are targeted by a sadistic maniac in the Australian Outback. The film was raw, disturbing, and visceral. It grossed over $16 million on a paltry $1 million budget and is looked upon very positively by horror fans, mainly due to the charismatic performance of John Jarratt as Mick Taylor, one of horror’s most grinningly charismatic modern villains. After a sequel in 2013, McLean helped adapt his films to television, and the 6-episode miniseries launched in Australia in May of this year, with Jarratt back to star.

Now, the miniseries premieres in the U.S. later today on Pop TV.

The series debuted late last year after premiering at New York Comic-Con. Fresh off their appearance at SDCC, and with a little more than a month till its season 2 premiere, the first season is being released on Blu-ray this week. Season 1 saw Ash Williams (Campbell) accidentally conjure the Evil Dead again after reading from the Necronomicon while getting high with a young fluzy. Soon demons and deadites are everywhere and Ash is left to grab his boomstick and rev up the ole chainsaw hand. Joining him in his quest to vanquish evil are his former co-workers and sidekicks Pablo (Ray Santiago), and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo). Together the trio was forced to deal with the evils of the book as well as a rogue FBI agent (Jill Marie Jones) and a strange woman with connections to Ash’s past (Lucy Lawless).

Beware of some spoilers from last night’s episode of Ash vs Evil Dead!

We are back at the cabin in this week’s Ash vs Evil Dead. Ash (Bruce Campbell) brought the Necronomicon back to the place where it all began, and according to his Brujo vision, he has to bury it there. Last week we lost Amanda Fisher. Ash was off in the work shed and Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) fell victim to an Ash clone created from the original severed Ash hand. It was a particularly brutal death, involving a cleaver to the neck and impalement on deer antlers. It was a bloodbath and a reminder that even with Campbell spouting hilarious one-liners, that this is a horror series, based on one of the all-time great horror films. Kelly and Pablo arrive just as good Ash is fighting bad Ash, and have to figure out which Ash is which… of course both are little racist and totally inappropriate.

It’s time to go back to the beginning”¦ the cabin in the woods. At the end of last week’s episode, Ash (Bruce Campbell) snuck away from the gang to do it alone. After all, everyone he ever cared about ended up dead, so he doesn’t trust that his new friends will make it. Amanda Fisher (Jill Marie Jones) is now a full on part of the group and is actually receptive to Ash’s advances. Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago) are now heavily armed after beating up some militia goofs, and killing some militia deadites. At the Brujo’s compound, Ash went on a drug-fueled trip and was told to bury the book deep under where it all started”¦ “Honey, I’m home.”
