It has been widely speculated that the Rocket Raccoon – a role that has yet to be cast – character in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy would be done by the respective actor in a motion-capture suit. Seems to make sense for the obvious reasons, unless there is am actual Raccoon who can walk on two legs and has a cockney accent – assuming that is even the accent they want to go with. But HitFix (via CinemaBlend) has discovered that Rocket Raccoon won’t be done in mo-cap, but instead the character will be a blend of CGI, “rotomation,” and traditional animation.
This is welcoming news for those who have grown tired of seeing motion-capture techology used. Motion capture, or mo-cap, is known as the process of using technology to capture the movements of an actor.
By forgoing the mo-cap technology, Marvel is definitely pushing the envelope with Guardians of the Galaxy, so it should be interesting to see how they approach some of other characters’ appearances.
