TV Review: Daredevil Season 2 Episodes 10-12

Marvel’s Daredevil
Season 2 Episodes 10-12
Created by Drew Goddard
Starring Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Elodie Yung
Netflix
Premiere date: Friday, March 18th, 2016

This season… just unreal. I can’t think of a show outside of Dexter seasons 1-4 where every episode is better than the last. After the first half of the season, Daredevil had the hallway/staircase fight, the introduction of the incredibly sexy Elektra (Elodie Yung), and the balls to the wall insanity of Frank “the Punisher” Castle (Jon Bernthal). The second half of the season has more than kept up. The Hand has taken over as the primary villainous force, and Vincent D’Onofrio is back as Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk. And since season 2 has been stealing the thunder, all the greatest hits from season 1 are returning – Stick (Scott Glenn); Daredevil’s blind trainer, and Nobu, the ninja that nearly killed Matt last season. My mouth has continuously hit the floor, and I’m so close to the end that I’m starting to get upset at the thought of waiting a year for season 3.

Daredevil season 2 debuted a week before Batman V Superman is set to hit theaters, and while the TV superhero shows were on a brief hiatus. The definition of perfect timing, Daredevil is the talk of the watercooler, and with Netflix uploading shows all at once, the binger will have no crossover effect. And binge you should, because this is an absolutely epic season. Every time I think I’ve seen far and away the best episode, the next one starts and it’s a whole new level of “Holy Shit” and “Oh My God” and “Are you kidding me!?” We left off with The Punisher awaiting trial for his murders and Elektra causing all sorts of personal and professional issues for Matt “Daredevil” Murdock…

Joss Whedon Was Offered ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Reboot, Turned It Down
  |  @   |

Last year when we heard that a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot was a strong possibility, it sounded as if even then, creator Joss Whedon‘s involvement was quite doubtful. Recently it was revealed that the reboot was now under the wing of Warner Brothers, and that newcomer Whit Anderson had been hired to write the script.

Whedon responded to the news with humorous words that we all got a chuckle out of, but as it turns out, he may have had the opportunity to work on the movie after all, and chose to turn it down.

According to reports, Whedon was offered the chance to take part in the reboot — possibly as a writer, one would speculate, but most likely as just a producer — last year when we first heard of it. This was when the rights to Buffy were owned by Fran Rubel Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui, who have since sold them to WB, and Whedon decided that he would rather work on other projects. With Joss currently directing Marvel’s juggernaut, The Avengers, you have to assume that he might have been in the midst of trying to score that job when the new Buffy was presented.

Must Read: Joss Whedon Responds To ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Reboot
  |  @   |

Mere hours ago, word hit the internet that Warner Brothers had acquired the rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and would be moving forward on a reboot of the property based on a pitch by Whit Anderson, who is currently working on the screenplay for her take on the character.

Well, it didn’t take long for someone to get a hold of Joss Whedon, who wrote the script for the 1992 original Buffy starring Kristy Swanson, created, wrote, directed, and produced the mega-popular TV series of the same name starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, and is also responsible for things like Firefly, Angel, and Dollhouse. Whedon is busy working away on The Avengers, the Marvel comic book movie that’s been set up over the past handful of years to become one of the biggest movies of all time, which he was hired to write and direct. Nevertheless, the fanboy favorite took the time to write a response letter sharing his feelings on the new reboot, and you don’t want to miss what he had to say.

You can head on over to the other side to read the full letter from Whedon, and you should plan to giggle once or twice.

‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Moves Forward With Writer Whit Anderson
  |  @   |

A feature film reboot of the popular Buffy the Vampire Slayer is now moving forward with a new writer and major studio backing.

In May of 2009, it was reported that the reboot — without the great Joss Whedon — was possible, and that Kuzui Enterprises was receiving many inquires about sequels and reboots and many other things. It took a little while to get something done, but now Warner Brothers has stepped in to acquire the rights from Kuzui, and has joined forces with Vertigo Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment to make it happen.

Not only that, but a writer has been found to get the script going, and that writer is Whit Anderson. The 29-year-old Anderson is a newcomer to the business, with only three small credits to her name as an actress — two in short films and one a small role in Yes Man — and none as a writer. Anderson won the job based on a pitch that really appealed to those who back the film, who were impressed with her understanding of where they wanted to go with Buffy and the tone she was presenting.
