‘Stranger Things’ Star Joins ‘X-Men’ Spinoff ‘The New Mutants’
  |  @   |

Another name has joined the cast of Fox’s X-Men spinoff X-Men: The New Mutants. Or just New Mutants. No one seems to know for sure. IMDb has it as the former. The trades seem to like the latter. Apparently we get to call it whatever we like. Personally, I’m going to call it Boo! A Madea X-Men Spinoff. Y’know, because it’s said to be a horror.

Anyway, getting back on track. It’s being reported that Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton is in negotiations for a role in the spinoff. He joins the previously cast Anya Taylor Joy, Maisie Williams, and Rosario Dawson on the movie.

‘X-Men’ Spinoff ‘The New Mutants’ To Be A “Full-Fledged Horror” Film
  |  @   |

Unlike the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the X-Men ensembles have been pretty straightforward comic book flicks. The Wolverine and Logan had their own sub-genres while Deadpool was a comedic superhero film. Now The New Mutants, another spinoff, will take on a genre that’s never been seen in any of the X-Men films or spinoffs. Director Josh Boone says it will be a “full-fledged horror movie,” and that they are trying to do something much different.

Also, Rosario Dawson is in talks to have a leadership role in the film. More on these two stories below.

If the X-Men film franchise had one problem, it’s that it cannot close out a trilogy. Rebooting has proven to be what the franchise needs to be reinvigorated and draw new audiences in. With New Mutants currently in development and scheduled for an April 2018 release, the film has started casting key roles. The first two to join are The Witch and Split‘s Anya Taylor-Joy and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams. More on the story below.

20th Century Fox’s X-Men Film Franchise At A Crossroads, May Be Headed Towards A Reboot
  |  @   |

20th Century Fox’s X-Men film franchise has been fairly successful, grossing over $4 billion dollars since they acquired the rights to the characters in the 1990s. Despite Deadpool performing well beyond anyone’s expectations, X-Men: Apocalypse had a poor box office showing, and many of the cast’s contracts are or are about to expire. That’s not all. Deadpool 2 is currently looking for a director. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Gambit is still in a production stall.

While the studio will release Logan next year, what comes next for the franchise is still very much in the air. Which is why, according to a new report, Fox is considering giving the X-Men another reboot. Check out the full story below.
