Rumor For Your Thoughts: Will The First Standalone ‘Star Wars’ Movie Focus On Yoda?
  |  @   |

We’ve had a seemingly endless supply of Star Wars news since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, and with this endless supply of news comes an equal amount of rumors, as is to be expected. Which of these rumors will rise up and prove to be accurate is part of the fun. Most of the news we’ve heard regards Star Wars Episode VII, the long-awaited (and once thought impossible) first movie in the third trilogy. The beginning of the final chapters in what will be a trilogy of trilogies. Unless you’re one of those folks that chooses to pretend the prequel trilogy doesn’t exist, in which case ignore everything being said here.

The first of the big rumors we’ve heard was that Darth Vader might return in Episode VII. Then came word that Zack Snyder was developing one of the standalone Star Wars movies, the first of a planned many individual movies telling individual stories separate from the numbered flicks. That rumor was denied quickly and its validity remains to be seen, but now comes a new rumor to feed on. What would you say if the first standalone Star Wars movie told a story centered around the one and only Yoda?

Disney In Depth: Disney To Acquire Lucasfilm, An Analysis From The Disney Fan Perspective
  |  @   |

We were all shocked to discover when Darth Vader revealed himself to be Luke Skywalker’s father. But we experienced perhaps even more shock when news broke this week that The Walt Disney Company was acquiring Lucasfilm, George Lucas‘ 41-years-strong company. Now, Mickey Mouse will be both Vader’s and Luke’s parent, though not by blood — what an awkward “modern family” that deserves some critical examination.

Puns and jokes aside, this $4 billion purchase follows what has been a whirlwind of new ventures for Disney in just the past seven years since Bob Iger attained the role of CEO of The Walt Disney Company. 2006 marked Disney’s purchase of Pixar. 2009 signified Disney’s purchase of Marvel. And now 2012 represents news of Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm. One can only imagine what the Mouse House will obtain in 2015 if this ironically-consistent pattern of buying a big entity every three years continues. These heavily-expensive, but ingenious acquisitions reflect Disney’s focus of branding and leveraging well-known and well-received properties.

French Fast Food Joint Releases ‘Star Wars’ Burgers For ‘Phantom Menace’ 3D Release
  |  @   |

A French fast food restaurant called Quick is making some specialty burgers in conjunction with the re-release of Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace in 3D.

The trio of burgers each draw inspiration from the Star Wars universe. The first is the “Dark Burger,” inspired by Darth Maul (or “Dark Maul”), which can be seen here. Then comes the “Jedi Burger,” inspired by Master Yoda and the Jedi, and last but not least, the “Dark Vador” burger, which is of course inspired by Darth Vader and can be seen above. The Vader burger is the most notable of the three because it comes on a jet-black “carbonized” bun.
