Check Out Revolver’s ‘Metal Health’ Issue Featuring Doyle, Alissa White-Gluz, Zakk Wylde & more

With the start of each new year, people from all walks of life make resolutions to lose weight and get into shape, so the folks over at Revolver magazine have dubbed their January 2015 issue “Metal Health,” dedicating the cover story to “Heavy music’s strongest stars.” Vegan power couple Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, formerly of The Misfits, and Alissa White-Gluz, current singer for Arch Enemy, grace the cover of the issue, which also features other musicians who’ve made fitness and health a priority, like Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), Chris Kael (FFDP), Brandan Schieppati (Bleeding Through), Matt Heafy (Trivium), John Joseph (Cro-Mags), and more.

Listen To Black Label Society Playing ‘The First Noel’

Season’s Greetings everyone!

To get you further into the festive mood (one day to go!) have a listen to Black Label Society‘s version of the traditional English Christmas carol, “The First Noel.”

It’s not the usual BLS heavy metal fare, it is a beautiful acoustic rendition from their covers album The Song Remains Not The Same. As usual Zakk Wylde‘s guitar playing is excellent.

$5 MP3 Album Deal: Rock Star Soundtrack

Another choice pick on Amazon’s $5 MP3 Album Deals list is the Rock Star Soundtrack.

The compilation of “Stranglehold” (Ted Nugent), “Wild Side” (Motley Crue), “Lick It Up” (KISS), and “Livin’ On A Prayer” (Bon Jovi) is worth the $5 price. Throw in a whole bunch of songs by the Rock Star‘s band in question, Steel Dragon, which includes actual guitars by Zakk Wylde and drums by Jason Bonham. Don’t worry, Mark Wahlberg’s singing voice is performed by the awesome Miljenko Matijevic of Steelheart, as well as Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist Jeff Scott Soto.

Watch William Shatner Sing ‘Iron Man’ For His New Album ‘Seeking Major Tom’

We first reported back in February that iconic actor William Shatner was hard at work on his next album titled Seeking Major Tom (read about it HERE).

The album will be a conceptual recording in the form of a collection of 18 covers of classic rock anthems. Recently the Shat released a video of him laying down the final vocals for his cover of the classic Black Sabbath tune “Iron Man” and you can watch that video here below.

William Shatner Receives Honorary Headbanger Award

It is official now: William Shatner is an Honorary Headbanger. As we brought to your attention several weeks ago, Captain Kirk himself had been nominated to receive the Honorary Headbanger Award at the annual Revolver Awards. Shatner received his award during the ceremony, and photos of the event are now available for you to check out at the bottom of this post.

Scott Ian from Anthrax and comedian Brian Posehn presented the award to Shatner, which is handed out to someone who is not necessarily seen as being in the metal community, but embodies the spirit of metal. The award is a timely one for Shatner, who is currently working on a new music project: his first-ever metal album.
