After taking a look at a couple of documentaries for our Netflix review series, I concluded it was time to jump back into something a little more familiar for me: Horror. Recently added to the Netflix streaming collection, The Serpent And The Rainbow is a classic horror movie in the true sense of the word “classic” – it hearkens in the past to an age where overrated frights and intense gore was not necessarily a part of the genre.

  |

Timed to the upcoming second season premiere of The Walking Dead Anchor Bay Entertainment is releasing a special edition DVD set of the show’s problematic but ultimately stellar first season on Blu-ray and DVD with even more extra features than their previous release of the first season. Today the company has released a clip from one of the newly created bonus featurettes and you can watch the video below this article.

Titled “Digital Decay,” the 90-second clip takes brief look at the CGI effects created for the series, notably the additional zombies. There’s nothing revelatory in this video but it does give you a feel for the ways that digital effects are used to create a worthwhile end result.

Check That: Ed Harris And Matthew Fox Will NOT Be In ‘World War Z’
  |  @   |

Not too long ago it was reported that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris had joined Brad Pitt on the cast of World War Z, the post–apocalyptic zombie movie told from the perspectives of some of those fighting to survive, which is based on the Max Brooks book of the same name.

As things tend to go from time to time in good ol’ Hollywood, these castings haven’t exactly worked out. Vulture is reporting that Fox has decided not to appear in the movie due to a scheduling conflict with the Tyler Perry–starring I, Alex Cross. As for Harris, it’s currently unclear why the actor was unable to take the job.

Must Watch: Haunting Trailer For Zombie Video Game ‘Dead Island’ Will Leave You Speechless
  |  @   |

A new video game trailer has hit the web, and it has a lot of people buzzing.

The trailer is for a game called Dead Island, and it’s about zombies. It’s developed by Techland, the team behind two personal favorites of mine: Call of Juarez and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. The game has been in development for multiple years now, but with the release of this new trailer, Dead Island is officially on the radars of gamers everywhere.

Every once in a while a trailer really stands out for one reason or another, and this is one of those times. It’s a cinematic, so no actual gameplay is shown, but it’s presented in an almost Memento-esque short story format. It also hits an extremely dark point that very few others would have the nerves to showcase, and it’s this point that is all but guaranteed to strike an emotional chord with you the viewer.

You can see the new cinematic trailer for Dead Island by heading below now. You can also find a few new screenshots from the game as well.
