Advanced TV Review: New Girl: Series Premiere
  |

New Girl
Series Premiere
Starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake M. Johnson, Max Greenfield, Damon Wayans Jr.
Written by Elizabeth Meriwether
Fox
Air date: Tuesday, September 20, 2011 9/8c

New Girl, the new sitcom from Fox, is the best new show of the TV season. Okay, that is a pretty bold statement. I have not seen any other show from the new Fall lineup, but if the preview that I saw of the pilot episode is an indicator of how the series will play out, then those other new shows will have to have to bring their A game to the table.

Right about now, I am sure you are wondering why this show is so great. Is the premise really that original? Well, no. The premise is pretty much a staple of in the landscape of TV sitcoms. A recently single girl, Jess (Zooey Deschanel), moves into an apartment with a group of guys she has nothing in common with.

Movie Review: Your Highness
  |  @   |

Your Highness
Directed by David Gordon Green
Staring Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman
Rated R
Universal Pictures
Release date: April 8, 2011

Your Highness is the new movie from the people that brought you Pineapple Express, a movie that mixed stoner comedy with an ’80s action movie with some success. Your Highness looks to do take a stoner comedy and mix it with a Lord of the Rings-style fantasy. I was getting my hopes up before seeing Your Highness, mostly because I like Danny McBride and because I liked what I saw in the commercials. Unfortunately, it didn’t exactly live up to my expectations, which doesn’t make it a bad movie, it just means it left me a little disappointed, and I think a lot of people will feel the same way.

Your Highness is the story of two brothers, Fabious (James Franco) and Thadeous (Danny McBride). Fabious is the successful brother and future king of the land. Thadeous is a screw-up who doesn’t want to do anything except spend his nights with wenches and weed. When Fabious’ fiancée Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) is kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), the two brothers must go on a quest to rescue her. They are joined by Thadeous’ squire, Courtney (Rasmus Hardiker), and are later joined by Isabel (Natalie Portman), another adventurer with a grudge against Leezar. Their quest is filled with monsters, betrayal, and a little bit of drug use, before their final confrontation with the wizard.

Disney’s New ‘Winnie The Pooh’ Movie Gets Release Date, Production Details
  |  @   |

Winnie the Pooh is a character that means a lot to a great deal of people, who all grew up with the lovable simpleton of a stuffed bear.

Now nostalgia is preparing to overtake you once again, as Walt Disney has a brand new movie simply titled Winnie the Pooh, which will be the first original big-screen Pooh movie in over 35 years. The movie will be presented in classic Disney hand-drawn style, and very little has changed in the Hundred Acre Wood.

The movie now has an official release date, set to hit theaters on July 15, 2011, and a lot of very cool tidbits of information in regard to the movie have also been released, which you can check out by clicking on over to the other side. While there, you can also watch the highly nostalgic trailer if you’ve yet to see it!

Blu-ray Review: Elf: The Ultimate Collection
  |

Elf
Ultimate Collector’s Edition Blu-ray
Directed by Jon Favreau
Starring Will Ferrell, Zooey Deschanel, James Caan, Peter Dinklage
Warner Bros Home Entertainment
Release date: October 26, 2010

Ask any Will Ferrell fan about his movies, and they most definitely will be able to quote lines from it, almost verbatim. Some like his wacky turn as news reporter/lothario Ron Burgundy in Anchorman. Other prefers him as Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights. For me, my favorite movie from the Ferrell library is Elf, his first major movie and box office success. So, with the holidays right around the corner, it is no surprise that the movie would be re-released on Blu-ray as an Ultimate Collector’s Edition.

Elf stars Will Ferrell as Buddy, a human who when he was just a baby, hopped into Santa’s sleigh and was whisked to the North Pole. Because he was an orphan, an old wise elf (Bob Newhart) decides to raise him as his own. Fast forward 30 years, when Buddy discovers that not only is he not an elf, but his real human father is in New York City. Hoping to reconnect with the father he never knew he had, Buddy embarks on a quest to the Big Apple one special Christmas season.

Red Band Trailer For Danny McBride & James Franco Adult Fantasy ‘Your Highness’
  |  @   |

Ladies and gentlemen, the vulgar and hilarious adult-aimed fantasy movie you’ve all been (probably) waiting for has arrived.

The movie is called Your Highness, and it’s a fantasy with all the swords and magic and mythical creatures you would expect. What you might not so much expect is that the movie is directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Eastbound & Down), and mixes a whole lot of comedy, swearing, sex, and drug use into the fantasy pot.

To show off a bit of the naughty elements of the movie, a new red band trailer has been released for our enjoyment. And yes, the swearing does feel a little awkward given the setting of the movie. That said, Your Higness looks like it could be a lot of fun and a crazy new and unique spin on the fantasy genre.

As always, be sure to head on over to the other side to read a synopsis and watch the new red band trailer. And obviously, this trailer is NSFW and you should approach with caution!
