Cartoon Networks Anime-Style ‘Thundercats’ Gets A First Trailer
  |  @   |

The first trailer for the Cartoon Network’s Thundercats has shown up online.

The animated series is a reboot of the classic ’80s kids show with a makeover giving it more of a Japanese anime look. Before this all we had to go on was an image that had been released, making many fans of the original a little skeptical of these new-look Thundercats.

The hopes here is to win over a new fan base for the property, as well as keep all of the old fans who loved the show when they were kids. This seems like it will be a challenge for the old school fan, however, as it’s tough for nostalgia’s sake to warm up to the new look (for me, anyway).

  1. The style and characters fit the anime genre very well, but Cartoon Network has not been very kind to anime. Or at least they haven’t in the past. Inuyasha, Bleach and several others have just been ruined by a channel that is known more for Family Guy and ATHF. That audience is not looking for a poorly dubbed anime.

I hate watching dubs. Period. The only 3 anime I have enjoyed in English were FMA, Trigun, and Shin Chan. If they picked up decent voice actors, I might not have to go download it in Japanese.

BTW this new comment format is retarded. If you thought it was hard to get people to comment on an article before, it’s even harder now. I’ve seen a big decline in comments, just because they don’t want to wade through all the red tape to get their point across.

  2. It looks like they are on the right track so far. I’ve been pretty pleased with many of the shows that Cartoon Network has (Star Wars:TCW, Young Justice, Symbionic Titan) and I think this will fit in well with those.

@Clint I’m pretty sure this will be made for a U.S. audience and not dubbed like the anime shown on Adult Swim.
