Warner Home Video, DC Entertainment, and Warner Bros Animation announced details on their upcoming DC Animation panel at next month’s New York Comic-Con, as well as releasing the first image from the Catwoman short feature on the Batman: Year OneDVD and Blu-ray releasing on Tuesday, October 18, 2011.
First, this animation panel at NYCC looks amazing. The panel will be an hour long on Friday, October 14, and will take place from 3-4pm. Scheduled to appear on the panel are legendary casting director Andrea Romano, DCU executive producer Bruce Timm, and the voice of Batman himself Kevin Conroy. The announcement hints at more possible guests for the panel, as well. And if one person could be suspected of showing up, it would be Eliza Dushku, the voice of Catwoman in both the 15-minute animated feature that this panel will be debuting and Batman: Year One, but that’s purely speculation on my part. In addition, the panel guests will be available for autograph signings directly after the panel.
Warner released the above image from the Catwoman short film as well, and I’ve gotta tell you, I’m not one to get overly excited by an single image in animation, but GOOD LORD that is a very aesthetically pleasing Catwoman, wouldn’t you say? It’s certainly a unique take in the animated sense on the character. In fact, it is now my desktop wallpaper, which gives the old ladies at Starbucks even more of a reason to look at me funny while I write. But I digress, if any other part from Catwoman ends up looking like this, the short film has the quite likely ability to become my favorite DC animated project. Seriously, this Batman: Year One DVD is shaping up to be one their best releases to date.
Speaking of animated DC releases, Warner also announced that their New York Comic-Con panel will also shed some light on upcoming DC related projects including the upcoming Justice League: Doom project that I literally have no information about. But I can guarantee you one thing, on October 14, I will know all I can from the panel and I will share it with you. Because this animation studio has yet to let me down as a fan.
