New Line Rebooting ‘Mortal Kombat’
  |

As the web series based on this franchise continues to be relatively popular, New Line has apparently decided to cash in on the recent love for the Mortal Kombat.

Deadline is reporting that New Line has decided to set up a new, live-action reboot of the franchise, that will be helmed by Kevin Tancharoen and penned by Oren Uziel. That’s right, the same man behind Glee: The Documentary will be at the helm of a new take on the bloodiest fighting franchise around.

Personally, while I did actually dig the short that the pair have garnered so much buzz for, I don’t really care all that much for the idea of doing a full feature in this world. I think that given their track record, hopes aren’t too high for the film, but hey, if it’s as fun and entertaining as their short, crazier things have happened.

  1. The short was good, the first 2 eps of the webshow was good, then turned into cheap garbage. Be nice to see this as a movie though, but obviously needs polishing up.

Am I to take it new line has full rights now? there was some court battle going on with them and The Threshold over who has the rights.
