Woody Woodpecker Heading To The Big Screen

Now this is a project this writer can truly get behind.

According to THR, Illumination Entertainment is set to take on a big-screen adaptation of the beloved animated character, Woody Woodpecker.

Woody Woodpecker will be penned by John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky (Blades Of Glory), and at this point, that’s pretty much all we really know about the project.

Personally, while I was not at all a fan of their film Hop, the guys at Illumination are really talented, and this writing team definitely makes me interested in the film. I was a huge fan of the character as a child, and while I’m not sure what kind of stock the character has at this stage in the animated world, but if this gets a ton of people to revisit the character, then it’s doing a great thing. It’s a wonderful character, so here’s to hoping it brings the character back into the spotlight.
