‘Goosebumps’ Adaptation Gets ‘Monsters vs Aliens’ Director Rob Letterman
  |  @   |

Goosebumps, those classic youth horror novels written by R.L. Stine, may have been popular in the 90s and hit its peak when a televised series aired, but it has taken such a long time for the novels to get adapted into a full-length film. Sony Pictures found the potential box office gold that these Goosebumps titles may have and now have hired Monsters vs Aliens director Rob Letterman to direct the film.

Acquired back in 2008, a draft was written by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, and then later rewritten by Carl Ellsworth and Darren Lemke.

Letterman hasn’t been officially hired by Sony, the two parties are currently negotiating a deal. But should Letterman be hired, he’ll be using a script that is based on numerous titles that involve irremovable masks, a possessed dummy, monster’s blood, and many other things that go bump in the night. There is no word on which title the adaptation may be based on, but Sony has so much to work with given that some of the titles in the Goosebump line have their own sequels. So in fact Sony could make a number of Goosebump films.

In addition to Monsters vs Aliens, Letterman is also known for Shark Tale and Gulliver’s Travels. No word yet on when Sony would like to release this incarnation of Goosebumps.

So which Goosebumps title would you like to see be adapted into a film.
