Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con saw another of the many surprises for the day at Hall H with the appearance of Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder during the Warner Bros. panel, where he took the stage to make the huge announcement, to some thunderous applause.
Snyder not only confirmed that a new Superman movie will be made, but also teased a major detail about the upcoming sequel – that it will be the long-rumored Superman/Batman movie. The audience in attendance understandably went wild at this tidbit.
The director started off by thanking all the fans got their response to Man Of Steel, before bringing out Harry Lennox, who appeared Man Of Steel, to read a section from the Dark Knight Returns comic.
I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand around your thought. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.
Once the reading was done, the lights dimmed and the big screens in the hall came on to show the Superman logo, with the Batman logo coming up behind it.
Snyder did say that they would not be adapting that storyline, but you can imagine how nuts the crowd went when they unveiled the combination of the Batman and Superman logo. The expectation is that the film will be released in 2015, and that’s about all we know at this point.
There will be more to learn about this movie as it goes forward, but it is awesome that DC and Warner Brothers have a plan for what they are doing with their films going forward.
