The first episode of Broadchurch, the new crime drama starring former Doctor Who lead David Tennant, aired on BBC America at the end of July, but you can watch the premiere online for free right now ad-free.

BBC America, who acquired the 8-part series from iTV, where it aired in the UK earlier this year, will keep the first episode online until August 22. The third episode of Broadchurch airs on BBC America on Wednesday, August 21 at 10pm/9c.

In the show, Tennant plays Detective Inspector Alec Hardy, who arrives to the British seaside town of Broadchurch to head up the investigation of the murder of a young boy. Upon arrival, the harden cop is partnered up with local Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (Colman), a compassionate woman who’s good at her job but has a hard time viewing her fellow small-town residents as murder suspects. The entire first season revolves around the duo solving the case while residents become suspicious and fearful; the media, in their efforts to get the scoop, impede the police investigation; and DI Hardy faces his own demons.
