After closing the introductory story arc of the new Legacy series, we now find Ania Solo heading into the next chapter of her destiny. The orientation of the first chapter out of the way, our main characters now begin to take their places in the ever changing backdrop of the Star Wars galaxy.

Fresh from her confrontation with Darth Wredd, Ania Solo is now known by Empress Fel as both having a common ancestor in the form of Han Solo and Princess Leia. She is summoned to Coruscant to meet with the Empress, and is in transit on board the Imperial Star Destroyer Animus. AG-37 and Sauk, meanwhile, are given an opportunity they cannot pass up.

While our team of heroes seems to be getting split up, the Imperial Knights are ordered to return to Coruscant also, and to not pursue Darth Wredd. Sensing danger with this course of action, Ania believes that their team must choose to unite and disobey orders to shadow and find Wredd.

The writing continues to be a good standard in the new Legacy run, especially now with the introductory orientation out of the way. Anya’s path of destiny has now opened up, and in a manner that saw Cade Skywalker on a unique path, hers is just as different. There are many allusions thrown out into the text and context that will also no doubt be returned to in future issues as well.

The artwork also continues to be good, but is starting to wear a little. The dense sketchy inking of Brian Albert Thies worked well as an allegory to the gritty and dirty world that Ania came from. But as they transition in this new issue, the artwork begins to feel misplaced in certain characteristics. In spite of this, it’s a different flavor still to the original Legacy series. And the homage element to the old comic strips still feels good.

Issue #6 of Legacy, Vol. 2 kicks off well and begins to lead in to Ania’s destiny. It’s a good transitional phase, and I’m looking forward to the next issue. Casual readers may not find it of much interest, but I think Star Wars fans will absolutely love this issue.
