Krysten Ritter Cast In Lead Role In ‘Jessica Jones’ From Marvel and Netflix
  |  @   |

Marvel has found their lead female star for their Jessica Jones Netflix series. Don’t Trust The B— In Apt 23 star Krysten Ritter will play as the title character. She beats out Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer, and Jessica De Gouw, who all testing for the role. Dexter alum Melissa Rosenberg is the series showrunner.

Running at a total of 13 episodes, Jessica Jones will introduce Luke Cage midway through the series. So his casting isn’t far behind. We haven’t heard much since it was reported that Lance Gross and Mike Colter were up for the Cage role. So it could be that they are still testing, or one or both are out, leaving Marvel to look for someone else to fill the role.

Jessica Jones is one of four titles picked up straight to series. Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are the other three. Each of them will have their own 13 episode order. All of it will culminate to a Defenders series, which will resemble what the Marvel Studios films did for The Avengers, but instead our heroes will make their ensemble debut on Netflix.

The title character once started out as a superhero herself, but her post-traumatic stress disorder forced her into retirement. She would eventually start her own detective agency where she helps those in need and assists other superheroes. In the comics, she has a relationship with Luke Cage, which could be why we will see the character midway through the series.

No premiere date has been set, but all four series will debut in 2015.

Ritter is known for various roles including Don’t Trust The B—- In Apt. 23, The Blacklist, and Breaking Bad.
