It’s being reported that Andrea Riseborough is in negotiations with Relativity Studios to join the cast of the long in development remake of the 1994 cult classic The Crow.
Assuming a deal gets all worked out and ink meets page Riseborough will play a villain in the movie, a character named Top Dollar, who was played in the original movie by Michael Wincott. The character was the main villain in the first movie, but is not in the graphic novel the movies are based on by James O’Barr.
Riseborough was recently seen in the Best Picture winner Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), and has also appeared in movies including Happy-Go-Lucky, Never Let Me Go, Disconnect, Welcome to the Punch, and Oblivion.
She would join Boardwalk Empire and the upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies star Jack Huston, who is set to play the lead role of Eric Draven. Brandon Lee played the lead in the ’94 film, and was killed during filming when a gun that had a live round in it instead of blanks was fired at him.
The movie is set to be directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow) based on a screenplay written by Claire Wilson. The remake is said to be a much more faith adaptation of O’Barr’s graphic novel of the same name than the ’94 movie was.
