‘Everest’ Trailer: All-Star Cast’s Epic Journey To Climb The World’s Tallest Mountain
  |  @   |

Ernest Hemingway said that “It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” The spirit of that quote couldn’t be more true when trekking up a treacherous mountain like Mount Everest. But when you’ve reach the goal to get to the peak of the mountain, there is also a story to tell of the trip back to ground. Baltasar Kormákur‘s Everest will focus on that aspect of the story, which tells of the true-life drama of two team’s having successfully climbed the mountain, only to find out that the journey back down can be even more dangerous. The film will feature an all-star cast, and is considered by many to be one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Check out the trailer below.

Here’s the official description:

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Everest is directed by Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns, Contraband) and produced by Working Title Films’ Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek Pictures’ Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, as well as Nicky Kentish Barnes and Kormákur.

Universal Pictures and Cross Creek Pictures’ presentation of Everest””in association with Walden Media””is adapted for the screen by William Nicholson (Gladiator) and Oscar® winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire).

Everest will also open in IMAX, only adding to the dizzying effects of climbing a mountain with such a high altitude. And if that weren’t exciting enough, it can only be seen in 3D.

For obvious and insurance reasons, they couldn’t bring the cast to the title mountain, but did shoot on the footsteps of it, as well as the Italian Alps to give audiences the feel that this is going to be as real as it gets. It was also filmed at Cinecittà Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the U.K. to get the shots that they couldn’t get while filming at the aforementioned mountains.
