For fans of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, this day just got a lot better. Without much fanfare, Aspyr Media (in partnership with LucasArts and Disney) have rolled out the update on Steam which includes a ton of new features and improvements. For a game over 10 years old (which is ancient in video games), it’s a surprising development.

Continue reading see a listing of some of the new features included in the update.

Here’s information about the original game:

Five years after the events from the award winning Star Wars® Knights of the Old Republicâ„¢, the Sith Lords have hunted the Jedi to the edge of extinction and are on the verge of crushing the Old Republic. With the Jedi Order in ruin, the Republic’s only hope is a lone Jedi struggling to reconnect with the Force. As this Jedi, you will be faced with the galaxy’s most dire decision: Follow the light side or succumb to the dark”¦

Key Features:
“¢ Follow up to the acclaimed and original Star Wars® Knights of the Old Republicâ„¢.
“¢ Choose from three different classes of Jedi, each with access to specific Jedi abilities.
“¢ Choose the light or the dark side of the Force as you progress through the story.
“¢ The choices you make will affect your character, those in your party and those who may join you in your quest.

And here’s a list of the new features that have been added:

“¢ 37 achievements to be earned through gameplay
“¢ Steam Cloud saves
“¢ Native widescreen resolution support
“¢ Resolution support up to 4K and 5K
“¢ Support for controllers, including Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation
3, and PlayStation 4, along with several others (check the system requirements for details)
“¢ Steam Workshop support! We proudly worked with the Restored Content Mod Team to have their famous TSLRCM up on launch day
“¢ A “Force Speed Effects” option in the menu.

Fans on Steam were elated as over 200 supporters gave a thumbs up to the news. Could this be a trend to bring classic fan favorite games back from the dead? Would you be willing to go back to an aged game if it got updated like this?

Star Wars: KOTOR II is now available on PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam.
