Last week’s iZombie brought Major (Robert Buckley) and Liv (Rose McIver) completely back together. They even ran into Clive (Malcolm Goodwin) and the FBI lady on a date. The brains of a gambler make Liv wager on everything, and introduces us to Stacey Boss, who makes most villains look like nuns. His high-pitched laugh and voice freak out Peyton (Aly Michalka), when he comes and threatens her in few words. Blaine’s (David Anders) dad tries to take over his business, plus threaten him with death. Blaine kills his own grandfather (whom he loves) in an effort to thwart him, but his father disappears. Major took him. The big reveal is that Major is not killing zombies, he’s just freezing them.

Spoilers below.

iZombie 2.7 “Abra Cadaver” recap/review: Clever name. Major and Liv talk about their sexual/sexless relationship. Liv’s take on her personalities-on-brain, “Sometimes I’m ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ Britney, and sometimes I’m shaved head, smashing car windows Britney.” Major thinks he can handle it. I hope so. He’s so much better with her than without her.

It’s time to eat magician brain! He was killed by a metal-edged playing card to the neck (very Arrow). This magician was obsessed with death. Ravi loves it. “This is the best brain ever! I almost want to start killing magicians so it never ends.”

Ravi watches sexy Peyton dancing in the kitchen, “one second less than would have been creepy.” And she gave the “man things” women advice.

Oh my god… in walks Blaine. He takes one look at Liv surrounded by candles in the dark at the morgue, and asks, “Did you eat Edgar Allan Poe?” I fell off my chair. Turns out, he wants Liv’s help in finding who is offing the zombies – bad for his business. Here is dramatic irony (really comedic irony). One – we know it’s Major. Two – we know he’s just keeping them in a freezer. Liv may end up happy he’s not killing them. But she made a BIG deal about no more lies. And he is keeping bunches of them.

“Help me Zombie Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” Blaine has the greatest lines wth the most perfect delivery.

What does any death-obsessed zombie medical examiner, and former zombie do? The obvious. Break into an FBI agent’s house, steal lab results, tamper with said results, and return them, of course!

Did I forget to mention some serious Blaine/Peyton flirting? I don’t know how she resists.

They do solve the murder which at first seemed like magic. Liv reveals all on reality TV.

Major looks like he’s rethinking his relationship with Liv, and it’s not because she tells him about the zombie serial killer.

This was one of the funniest episodes ever. Every week, I rally for more Blaine. Not only did I get more of him, he interacted with Liv and Peyton in a way that made me laugh, and gave me the warm and fuzzies. I was lucky enough to catch him guesting on one of my other shows, Once Upon A Time, as Dr. Frankenstein, where one of the characters remarked on his different (Blaine) hair. I almost died.

iZombie airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on The CW.

The CW’s synopsis:

iZombie
Abra Cadaver (Ep# 206)
IT’S ALL AN ILLUSION — Liv (Rose McIver) consumes the brains of a death-obsessed illusionist who was murdered in cold blood during a magicians’ convention in Seattle. As Liv and Detective Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) investigate the case, she uses her new skills to help narrow down the suspect pool. Meanwhile, Blaine (David Anders) gives Liv some interesting news, and Ravi (Rahul Kohli) makes a decision but things don’t end up going quite as planned. Lastly, Major (Robert Buckley) continues to distance himself from Liv. Viet Nguyen directed the episode written by Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker (#206). Original airdate 11/17/2015.
