SDCC 2016: ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Panel; Vulture Confirmed
  |  @   |

Spider-Man: Homecoming is easily one of the most anticipated MCU films to come next year. While yet another reboot based on the Webslinger could be a cause for concern, his introduction into the MCU via Captain America: Civil War cast the doubts that many of us had aside. Now as we look to the future, star Tom Holland will be our one and true Spider-Man.

Right in the middle of the MCU panel, Holland and director Jon Watts arrived to somewhat of a surprised crowd. Only because it wasn’t really clear if Marvel could show any footage from the film considering it still belongs to Sony. But now it’s clear. And just to make themselves feel right at home they previewed a tiny clip of what they have been shooting. Check out a brief description below. Oh, and yes. Vulture has been confirmed as the villain of the movie.

We open to the song “Bad Reputation” while high school yearbook photos are being flipped showing what some of the Marvel heroes looked like before they became heroes. Something to the effect of every hero has a beginning, and clearly Spider-Man got an early start.

The scene then transitions to a schedule of Pete’s classes. Starting with Math, one of Pete’s rivals fails to answer a question correctly. Meanwhile Pete is watching himself as Spider-Man during the events of Civil War. The teacher catches him off guard and asks him the same question, which he answers correctly.

Women’s Studies is not exactly how it sounds, as it shows Peter and a high school friend just looking at some of their high school crushes, to the displeasure of a girl sitting next to them, who tells them that they are losers.

After that it’s gym class, here Peter overhears high school cheerleaders play a version of the game Fuck, Marry, Kill with Marvel superheroes. One of them reveals she would marry Spider-Man and says she heard that he lives in Queens. That’s when the footage races into the action.

Peter jumping on top of a moving truck. Peter climbing the walls of a tall building. All of that ending with Vulture zooming down on the audiences, fearsome wings and all.

Watts said that this was going to be a high school movie, and based on what we’ve seen so far, he is staying true to that. The footage did not reveal whether or not Michael Keaton would be playing the Vulture, although he has been tapped to play a villain whether that is the Vulture or the Tinkerer.

Finally, Marvel released the concept art seen below just to give us a tease of the action that we will see in the movie.

Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters on July 7th 2017.
