One of Netflix’s upcoming original series is a comedy titled G.L.O.W., which stands for Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling and is based on the real 1980s women’s wrestling promotion of the same name.

It’s being reported that the series has now found its lead, with Community star Alison Brie signing on for the role of a struggling actress in ’80s Los Angeles who finds herself taking part in the “glitter and spandex world” of women’s wrestling.

This is now Brie’s second gig with Netflix. The actress voices a character on the streaming service’s animated series BoJack Horseman. In addition to that and Community, she’s also had roles in Scream 4, The Five-Year Engagement, The Kings of Summer, The LEGO Movie, Sleeping with Other People, Mad Men, and How to Be Single. She can next be seen in upcoming titles The Headhunter’s Calling, The Masterpiece, and The Little Hours.

G.L.O.W. is created by Nurse Jackie and Homeland writer and producer Liz Flahive and Weeds, Nurse Jackie, and Orange is the New Black writer and producer Carly Mensch. Flahive and Mensch will also act as showrunners executive producers on the series.

Also executive producing is Orange is the New Black creator and executive producer Jenji Kohan and Orange is the New Black executive producer Tara Herrmann.

Joining Brie on the cast so far is Betty Gilpin, who previously starred in Nurse Jackie and Masters of Sex, and can be seen in the upcoming Starz series American Gods. Gilpin plays a former soap opera star who left show business to have a baby, but is forced to come back when her life takes an unexpected turn.

Netflix ordered a 10-episode first season of G.L.O.W., which will make its debut sometime in 2017.

And if you’re not familiar with G.L.O.W. wrestling, as you can see, we are in for a treat folks.
