‘Extinction’ Trailer: Michael Pena’s Visions Of An Alien Invasion Are Anything But Routine
  |  @   |

Netflix has revealed the first trailer for Extinction, starring Michael Pena as a father who has vivid dreams of an alien invasion when in actuality, they are visions of the future.

As far as plots go, it’s not the most original. But it’s what’s in the trailer that truly has us intrigued. For it’s not just a simple man whose visions that could be the key to humanity’s survival but other secrets the trailer and poster are hinting at. Check it all out below.

Now the visuals and thin storyline leave us thinking that this film should have more to it. The fact that it looks like a Syfy film doesn’t really help. That being said, there are plenty of other things that give us hope that Extinction could be good. First, there is the cast. Lizzy Caplan will play Pena’s wife, while Luke Cage star Mike Coulter will play Pena’s boss, who seems to know a lot more about the alien invasion than he is letting on. Especially when he tells Pena “What’s happening out there has been headed our way for a very long time.”

Then there is that tagline on the poster that reads: “We Were Not Here First.”

So if we were not the first and if this alien invasion was planned for a long time, then who was the first and why now? Why keep it a secret? So many questions with no answers. And there could even be a deeper meaning to all of this. So let’s just hope we get all of the answers when the film debuts on Netflix. But even then, will it provide the answers that will satisfy us or leave us disappointed. Here’s hoping it’s the former.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

A father has a recurring dream of losing his family. His nightmare turns into reality when the planet is invaded by a force bent on destruction. Now, fighting for their lives, he comes to realize an unknown strength to keep them safe from harm.

Directed by Ben Young, using a script written by Spenser Cohen and Brad Kane, Extinction hits Netflix on July 27, 2018.
