‘Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse’ Trailer: What Makes You Different, Makes You Spider-Man
  |  @   |

Sony Pictures has released the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. The animated feature centers on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he embraces his destiny to be the webslinger.

The only thing is, he isn’t the only one. There are different variations of Spider-Man webslinging throughout different universes, and they come in different genders, shapes, and sizes. But there is one thing that connects them all, what makes them different makes them Spider-Man. Check out the latest trailer below.

Now, another Spider-Man film may sound derivative, but Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse looks like a lot of fun. The one thing that stands out is the style of the animation, which looks like a combination of 2D and 3D techniques and honors the comic books that the film is based on. It’s unlike anything anyone has ever seen before.

And having Miles as the lead character helps avoid the film from going through the same old-tired story of Peter Parker learning what “With great power comes great responsibility” means. But it’s not as if Parker is out of the picture completely. Because this is about a whole multiverse of Spider-Mans and Spider Gwen, we will get to see different versions of the character, which includes the classic Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), Gwen Stacy as Ghost Spider or Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Pig (John Mulaney), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), and Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn) – an anime version of the character.

Of course, fans who have been following Spider-Man would know that there are multiple versions of the character, but Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse could be a great way to introduce those different versions of Spider-Man to a new generation of fans and the character can be anyone of any gender and ethnicity.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.

Liev Schreiber, Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry, and Lily Tomlin also star.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse opens in theaters on December 14, 2018.
