‘The Prodigy’ Trailer: The ‘It’ “You’ll Float Too” Kid Is Back For A Different Kind Of Horror
  |  @   |

As if we needed to be more afraid of Jackson Robert Scott, who played the “You’ll float too” kid from It who unfortunately took back his brother’s paper boat from Pennywise on that fateful rainy day. But now he’s back in a different kind of horror. In Nicholas McCarthy‘s (The Pact, At Devil’s Door) The Prodigy, the young actor will play a kid who is going through a very dark turn in his life, and it is up to his mother, played by Orange Is The New Black‘s Taylor Schilling, to figure out what is causing this before the change becomes permanent. Check out the trailer here below.

Right from the get go, the teaser quickly establishes that Miles (Jackson Robert Scott) is a prodigy. A kid whose test scores are unlike any other kid. However, there is a dark presence that surrounds this boy as he holds a spider in the palm of his hands before he makes a fist to kill it.

Soon, more clues are dropped, and Miles’ mother is starting to wonder why her child is so different. As if him asking why, or him holding a monkey wrench in the middle of a classroom wasn’t enough of a sign. But just for added measure, his mother continues to love her son. But how much longer can that love last when all the warning signs become more alarming?

No doubt we could empathize with Scott’s little Georgie after he was killed by Pennywise in It, only to be then used as a tool to manipulate his older brother Billy. But here, it looks like Scott will play a dangerous character right from the start. So the young actor has that young innocent look locked down. Now we will get to see him play that sort of character in a new space.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In her much-anticipated foray into the horror-thriller genre, Taylor Schilling stars in THE PRODIGY as Sarah, a mother whose young son Miles’ disturbing behavior signals that an evil, possibly supernatural force has overtaken him. Fearing for her family’s safety, Sarah must grapple with her maternal instinct to love and protect Miles in favor of investigating what – or who – is causing his dark turn. She is forced to look for answers in the past, taking the audience on a wild ride; one where the line between perception and reality remains blurry.

The Prodigy, which also stars Peter Mooney and Colm Feore, will be released in theaters on February 8, 2019.
