Disney’s ‘Dumbo’ Grammy Spot: The Elephant With A Big Heart Finds Its Wings To Fly

It’s been 78 years since Disney’s animated version of Dumbo hit theaters, and now the studio will be releasing its live-action adaptation of the title of the same name later this March. Like many of their hit live-action adaptations of their animated classics, the film will be slightly different from the original. In it, Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for Dumbo, whose talents help the circus make a comeback while also attracting a swindling entrepreneur (Michael Keaton).

This will likely be our final look at the film before it hits theaters later this March. While Tim Burton is best known for his dark films, this wouldn’t be the first time that the filmmaker went in a family-friendly direction. So we can expect to see some familiar moments that tug at our heartstrings but also see something that makes it very Burton. While Burton’s imaginative additions deviate from the animated original, there are still aspects of it like the pink elephants and black feather that help the new film retain the spirit of the original.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Eva Green and Alan Arkin also star.

Dumbo flies into theaters on March 29, 2019.
