Thanks to the power of social media, we now know that John Krasinski has officially started production for A Quiet Place 2. The highly anticipated sequel brings back Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe as the Abbott family. Krasinski also returns as director, with Polly Morgan joining as the cinematographer for the sequel. More on the report here below.
Now, there isn’t much to the image that was tweeted out earlier today, other than a clapperboard with a black and white image of a farm and a caption that simply reads “Part II.” So get ready for all the break downs on what it could actually mean.
The tweet itself did not contain much, with Krasinski only saying “#PartII.”
Though production has started, we don’t know too much about the sequel itself, other than that it will take place after the events of the first film. In previous interviews, Krasinski talked about what we could possibly see in the sequel.
“Who was on the other end of those fires, when the father lights the fire and in the distance, those other fires light up. How did those people survive? How did that old man survive?”
These new characters will shed more light on how they reacted to the global catastrophe that has caused everyone to go silent in order to survive.
“In the extreme, these characters are going through, there’s no room to think about that. They’re there, there’s an old man who’s about to scream, they just have to deal with that. I think it would be interesting to see what’s going on elsewhere at this same time.”
Polly Morgan is relatively new to the business, but has worked closely with writer/director Noah Hawley on Lucy In the Sky and on episodes of FX’s Legion. So it will be interesting to see if there will be any stark differences between the two features and how much Morgan will stay true to the spirit of the world while still being able to express her work in the new film.
And there you have it. Production has commenced for A Quiet Place 2, or is it A Quiet Place Part II? Guess we will find out eventually. For know, we know that the sequel will be hitting theaters on March 20, 2020.
