An X-Men movie without Wolverine – without a story that revolves directly around Wolverine, will be tricky.

X-Men was such a strong success because of the weight surrounding the world that Singer helped to create. Things, places, people and emotions felt real, as were the issues surrounding what it meant to be a mutant. Let’s not forget that mutant issues are merely disguises for our modern day gay rights issues.

Second of all, this X-men film is going to try to show us something original, something that we haven’t seen before. It might pay off through the relationship between Eric and Charles, but let’s not forget this is America, and Hollywood, two economies that thrive on the spectacle, violence and immediate visual gratification.

Pacing, character development, and solid story telling has been declining in this country for decades. Hollywood only cares about money and Studios will keep bleeding franchises dry if it means profit.

Reject common sense. Obliterate originality. Fire-bomb critics. This is America, Baby – open up and say Die Hard 5.

Nice rundown, Eve! I think most people were feeling a bit iffy about this project until the trailer came out. I, for one, enjoyed the trailer very much and can’t wait for the film. Since I’ve forgotten all about X3 and couldn’t bear to watch Wolverine, as far as I’m concerned, this is a sequel to X2. :)

Whether the movie is good or bad, the trailer at least is brilliant. I don’t know weather they don’t have the sound yet, but the effect of no sound effects in a trailer is what sets it apart from your average blockbuster (unlike the Transformers 3 trailer)

I’m still a bit bummed out that they’ve changed the original X-men team SO much. I don’t get why it was so important to put completly different characters in this one. But despite this I will still see the movie, although probably at home.
Also instead of screwing up classic X-men stories why not take some like Apocalipse and the 4 horseman or Genosha storylines and adapt them? …I do not get Hollywood.
