Digital comic book retailer Comixology is offering a FREE digital copy of The Walking Dead #19, which features the debut of Michonne, one of the series’ most popular characters.

The sword-wielding badass from The Walking Dead was revealed in the last minutes of the television show’s season two finale last Sunday, and while many comic book readers were celebrating, others were left scratching their heads at the site of a woman in a tattered hooded jacket, holding a sword and leading two zombies on chains. Granted, the debut of the character was an awesome sight, but fans who haven’t read the comics have no idea of the significance of the character. Enter Comixology. Comixology and Skybound are not run by stupid people. Offering the debut of the character for free is a perfect way to bring in fans of the show to check what fans of the comic have known for years. Michonne is totally awesome.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone with Internet access would not be interested in getting this comic. It’s FREE. It’s a free comic book. I’ve read the majority of this series, but I’m still going to download a copy of this comic because it’s free.
