Hammer Teaming with Author Susan Hill For ‘Woman In Black’ Sequel ‘Angels Of Death’
  |

The atmospheric horror drama The Woman in Black, which featured Daniel Radcliffe in his first major post-Harry Potter leading role, opened in February to great success with critics and audiences. The film grossed over $53 million in the U.S. and a grand total of $120 million worldwide off a budget of $17 million, so it’s safe to say a sequel is assured.

Yesterday it was announced that Hammer, Alliance Films, and Cross Creek Pictures will be collaborating with Susan Hill, the author of the novel on which the movie was based, for a sequel to be titled The Woman in Black: Angels of Death. Jon Crocker (Desert Dancer) will write the screenplay from an original story by Hill. Roy Lee (The Departed) of Vertigo Entertainment will serve as an executive producer on the sequel.

“We are proud and honoured to be working with Susan again on The Woman in Black: Angels Of Death, a wonderful new tale every bit as atmospheric and terrifying as its predecessor The Woman in Black,” said Simon Oakes, Vice-Chairman of Exclusive Media and President & CEO of Hammer Films, in an official statement released yesterday.

Angels of Death will take place four decades after the original Woman in Black and follow a couple’s frightening experiences in the haunted Eel Marsh House. There’s no word on whether Radcliffe or director James Watkins will be involved in the sequel.
