Warner Bros. Looking At Dueling Aquaman Scripts
  |  @   |

Hot off the heels of announcing that Warner Bros. would be releasing up to nine DC Comic films between 2016 and 2020, comes word that there will be an Aquaman film. But that isn’t even the craziest thing – unless you’ve heard Zack Snyder recently defend the honor of the King of Atlantis, who will appear in his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film for DC.

Reports are coming in that WB has commissioned two scripts for an Aquaman film, but they won’t be for two different films. The studio is aggressively working on getting Aquaman on the big screen for a solo film, so they have hired Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) to write two separate scripts, with the hope that one of them will be primed and ready for filming.

THR was the first to report on the news.

We know that Jason Momoa has been confirmed to play Aquaman in the upcoming Batman v Superman, although DC has yet to make an official announcement. The Aquaman character has long been the butt of jokes thanks to his depiction in 1970’s cartoons and his seemingly less interesting powers, as compared to the likes of Superman, Green Lantern, and even Batman. But as previously mentioned, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder went on the radio to defend the hero saying that he is much more than a guy who can talk to fish.

We know at least seven of the nine titles that WB and DC has scheduled for us between now and 2020. While Aquaman isn’t confirmed, the hero could take any of the remaining dates, or if it comes to it, take a date from another film.
