The Gamescom convention kicked off in Germany today, and there’s been plenty of exciting video game goodness shared already.
The third entry in developer From Software’s massively popular Dark Souls franchise, simply titled Dark Souls III, was officially announced at E3 2015 a couple of months back. Now the first gameplay preview for the trilogy-maker has been unveiled at Gamescom during the Microsoft presentation today.
While Dark Souls II was released on the current generation of consoles, it was first released on the previous generation, making this the first “next-gen” release for the excited fans of the series. You can see what it looks like below.
Developed by acclaimed Japanese developer FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, DARK SOULS III is the latest chapter in the critically acclaimed DARK SOULS series with its trademark sword and sorcery combat and rewarding action RPG gameplay. Players will travel across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world of unrelenting challenge and deep RPG gameplay as they search for a way to survive the coming apocalypse.
Dark Souls III can be pre-ordered for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No official release date for the game has been announced yet, but it is expected to arrive at some point in 2016.
Best of luck to you all with Mr. Floaty Skull above. It’s like the damn Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade float for Gravelord Nito.
