‘Baby Driver’ Trailer: Tequila, Bananas, Lattes, and Awesome Music
  |  @   |

It’s hard to deny the appeal of a movie like Edgar Wright‘s Baby Driver. The musically driven heist flick centers on a getaway driver named Baby (Ansel Elgort) who is dubbed Mozart in a Go-Kart by his boss (Kevin Spacey) for his ability to outrun the law. But it’s Baby’s unique gift of using music (usually whatever is on the iPod of the cars he steals) to drown out the “hum in the drum” during intense chases.

The film is still a few weeks away from release, but Sony has dropped a new trailer that not only features a new song but a classic song as well, and it also gives us a better idea of how Wright utilizes music in the film. Plus, the entire list of artists that will be featured on the upcoming soundtrack has been released. Check it out below.

There’s really no need to break down this trailer, as it really speaks for itself. Not to mention all the pull quotes praising the film gives us all the more reason to believe the hype. But it’s how the music moves key scenes that has me interested. For one thing, everything has been synced and choreographed to certain songs. How cool is that?

I don’t know about you guys, but Baby Driver is easily one of my most anticipated films of the year, and based on previously released trailers and footage, it’s easy to see why that is. And how often do you get to hear a soundtrack that features an eclectic mix of talents ranging from Beck, The Commodores, Queen, Barry White, Simon And Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Blur, Danger Mouse (Feat. Run The Jewels and Big Boi), Incredible Bongo Band, Golden Earring, Martha and the Vandellas, and so much more.

Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza Gonzalez, Jon Hamm, and Jamie Foxx also star

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

Baby Driver opens in theaters on June 28, 2017.
