‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ TV Spot: A Jedi Visits An Old Friend
  |  @   |

It’s not entirely unusual to see a TV spot for a tentpole film airing during a huge sporting event like game seven of the World Series. But when it comes down to a TV spot for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it will definitely be turning more than just a few heads.

What’s more, this is a TV spot that has a ton of new footage, more than we’ve seen in any of the previous trailers or behind-the-scenes looks that have been released. Check it out below.

Looking at the trailer, it looks like Luke Skywalker won’t be staying on Ahch-To for very long as the TV spot reveals Luke Skywalker walking into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. This is followed by a scarred Kylo Ren, who goes into a rage striking the wall, while his voice over says: “Let the past die, that’s the only way to become what you were meant to be.”

Then we hear Supreme Leader Snoke says “Darkness rises… and light to meet it.” At this point we see Rey deep into her training, which may hint at the two meeting each other. Which we kind of got a hint at during the last trailer.

This is followed by Rey saying “I need someone to show me my place in all of this.” It was at this point where we see Luke’s robot arm burst through a pile of rubble that is on top of him. It’s not clear if the quote and the scene are one in the same, but it seems to tell us that the training is not going as well as we would have hoped. Of course, that is just pure speculation.

But then we see Skywalker saying to someone – the TV spot made it look as though he was speaking to Rey – “this is not going to go the way you think.” But if he is speaking to Rey, then it will be interesting to see how the training has reached this point to where Luke is on the ground while Rey looks like she will strike down her teacher.

Watching Skywalker walk into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon as it lights up really got me excited. But this would be the first time he boarded it since Han died in The Force Awakens. Making his reaction to seeing the ship that much more poignant.

It’s important to note that this TV spot also has one of our first real looks at Snoke’s throne room, complete with the Praetorian Guards – the red samurai looking bodyguards standing to Snoke’s right and left. We also get another look at Finn trying to fight against Captain Phasma. Armed with the electric baton, Finn tries to strike down Captain Phasma, who seems to be sporting a staff that can withstand Finn’s attack.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:
