Disney’s animated feature Frozen has taken the world by storm since its 2013 theatrical release, so it’s not surprising that the company is doing everything possible to populate the world with more Frozen. For example, there’s already plans for a new theatrical short, Frozen Fever; a Broadway musical; and a new attraction at Disney World’s Norway Pavilion at EPCOT to replace The Maelstrom.
The Frozen characters already have a huge presence at Disney World, and now, they’ve been incorporated into Disney World’s Contemporary Resort’s massive Gingerbread display. Check out the video here below that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the Frozen display, which is just one of many Gingerbread showcases throughout the Florida theme park.
Since its 2013 release and subsequent smash success at the box office, Disney’s Frozen has had a presence in its Disney World theme park. There’s the “Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome” meet and greet with Queen Elsa and Princess Anna in EPCOT; the “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” singalong in Disney’s Hollywood Studios; the “Frozen Fireworks Spectacular” at the Magic Kingdom,” and much more, all of which has been met with great reception. So, it’s no surprise that Disney has plans to expand the world of Frozen further into their theme park.
Disney has announced plans for a Frozen attraction at the Norway Pavilion in the World Showcase portion of Disney World’s EPCOT park. Construction will begin soon to refurbish the current Maelstrom ride, which will close after October 5, 2014. The new Frozen attraction is said to bring guests to Arendelle, immersing them in moments and music from the film.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy has not only smashed box office records, its soundtrack, Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 (which we went over in detail here), hit Number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last week. So, it goes without saying that people love Guardians and want more of it.
Now, Guardians is infiltrating one of the Disney theme parks when the “Awesome Mix Tape Dance Party” segment comes to “Villains Unleashed,” a separate ticketed event taking place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for one night only — August 23, 2014.
At last summer’s D23 Expo, we got a tiny glimpse at what the Disney Imagineers have in mind for their Avatar-themed expansion at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at the Disney World Resort. Ground broke back in January at the Orlando theme park on the new land, which is being created in conjunction with Avatar director James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment.
The folks over at the Disney fan site MouseSteps posted a video of some Avatar-colored twinkling lights seen this weekend on the Animal Kingdom’s centerpiece, the Tree of Tree. The lights were part of the park’s new special event, Harambe Nights, which celebrates the story of Disney’s The Lion King. Check out the video here below.
Every May, Disney World hosts Star Wars Weekends at their Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando, FL. As part of the experience, Disney has created Darth Vader cupcakes (we all know the Dark Side has cupcakes, right?)
Check out the video here below that showcases these Darth Vader cupcakes, as well as a behind-the-scenes video, which is actually quite amusing and fascinating.
