One month ago a new trailer for The Last of Us Part II was released, and with it came the announcement of a February 21, 2020 release date.
But as it turns out, they jumped the gun a little on that release date. It’s now been decided that developer Naughty Dog needs a little bit more time to polish the game, and have pushed back its release a few months. You can read the full announcement below.
A brand new trailer for one of the most anticipated upcoming video games, The Last of Us Part II, was released today as part of a PlayStation State of Play event.
But perhaps even more exciting than getting a new trailer, is that the long, long-awaited release date has also been revealed. It’s been over six years now since the all-time great first game came into our lives, devastated us, thrilled us, changed us. It’s been nearly three years since the sequel was first confirmed. Two years have now passed since we got our second peek at the game. And it’s been over a year since we saw the first gameplay, which was our last look at the game.

To kick of Sony’s E3 2018 showcase, a new trailer for developer Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II was shown. The trailer begins with a cinematic, which then segues into our very first look at gameplay footage.
And brutal gameplay footage it is, as you’d expect from the game. In it Ellie finds herself dealing with a swarm of enemies, utilizing stealth, improvisation, and straight-up blunt force as she moves through the environment trying to survive the nasty encounter.
The gameplay trailer is nearly 12 glorious minutes long, and you can watch every second of it below right now.
Paris Games Week 2017 is going on right now, and Sony shared some treats during their PlayStation showcase. This was headlined by a brand new trailer for a little game called The Last of Us Part II.
It’s no small tease of a trailer, either. Like the reveal trailer we saw almost one year ago now (has it been that long already?!) at PSX 2016, this new peek at the game is over four minutes long. In fact, it’s almost five minutes. Of course, it’s also another cinematic trailer. No gameplay just yet sadly.
You can check it out below, along with some brief character introductions for the new faces we’ll meet in the sequel.
