For anyone who’s not already aware, a new movie in The Grudge franchise is on the way. The movies are based on the Japanese Ju-On series, and began with the 2004 title of the same name starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
This latest entry is produced by Sam Raimi and written and directed by Nicolas Pesce, and stars Andrea Riseborough, Demián Bichir, John Cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye, and Jacki Weaver. The movie is directly connected to both Ju-On and the 2004 American remake, but unlike the American remake, it will have an R rating instead of a PG-13 rating.

Horror has always been Sam Raimi‘s bread and butter, but the Evil Dead filmmaker has stayed away from the director’s chair in recent years to produce a handful of titles. Now it looks like he will be getting back behind the camera for a new horror project that has been described as “Misery meets Cast Away.” More on the story below.
In April of 2018 Starz decided to cancelAsh vs Evil Dead after three seasons, and just days after that the longtime star of the series and the original movie trilogy, Bruce Campbell, decided to hang up his chainsaw and boomstick and retire from the role of Ashley Williams. It was a difficult time for fans of the Evil Dead franchise, to say the least.
But as Campbell said in his farewell message, Ash will never die. And as he said just a couple of months before retiring, if the show was canceled they would begin thinking about a new movie in the franchise. Now franchise writer, director, and producer Sam Raimi has offered an update, saying that producer Rob Tapert, Campbell, and himself are currently “working on some ideas” for a new movie. See what he had to say below.
It’s been announced that an adaptation of author J.A. White‘s children’s horror-fantasy Nightbooks is coming to Netflix.
The adaptation comes from The Evil Dead writer, director, and executive producer Sam Raimi and executive producer Rob Tapert, and it is being written by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis (The Curse of La Llorona, Five Feet Apart).
An official trailer has been released for Crawl, an upcoming thriller from Paramount Pictures.
The movie stars Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a father and daughter trapped in a house with a man-eating alligator during a hurricane. The movie is directed by Alexandre Aja, with Sam Raimi and Craig Flores producing.
