Sam Raimi Says Ideas For New ‘Evil Dead’ Movie Are Being Worked On
  |  @   |

In April of 2018 Starz decided to cancel Ash vs Evil Dead after three seasons, and just days after that the longtime star of the series and the original movie trilogy, Bruce Campbell, decided to hang up his chainsaw and boomstick and retire from the role of Ashley Williams. It was a difficult time for fans of the Evil Dead franchise, to say the least.

But as Campbell said in his farewell message, Ash will never die. And as he said just a couple of months before retiring, if the show was canceled they would begin thinking about a new movie in the franchise. Now franchise writer, director, and producer Sam Raimi has offered an update, saying that producer Rob Tapert, Campbell, and himself are currently “working on some ideas” for a new movie. See what he had to say below.

‘The Evil Dead’ To Get A 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack This Fall
  |  @   |

The Evil Dead was a movie made on a super-low budget by a group of friends in the woods in the late 70s and early 80s. It became a cultural phenomenon spawning two sequels, a remake, an off-Broadway musical, and a 3-season television series on Starz. Now almost 40 years since production started on director Sam Raimi‘s classic film, The Evil Dead will get the luxury treatment in a new 4K Ultra HD combo pack, which arrives right in time for Halloween.

‘Ash vs Evil Dead’: Bruce Campbell Retires From Playing Ash After Cancellation, Shares Farewell Message
  |  @   |

Though not at all surprising, the news that Starz has decided to cancel Ash vs Evil Dead after three seasons was no less devastating to fans.

And the news doesn’t get any better. For anyone who was hoping that now that the show has been canceled it might find another home or perhaps even lead to that fourth Evil Dead movie—which was whispered about here and there over the years after Army of Darkness, before the 2013 reboot and eventually the TV series arrived—that’s not going to happen, sadly. Bruce Campbell, who played Ash Williams in the original film trilogy and on Ash vs Evil Dead, has announced that he is retiring from playing that role after nearly four decades. Campbell made the announcement in a farewell message to fans, which you can read below.

Fans of The Evil Dead series were elated at the announcement that Bruce Campbell would be reprising his role as Ash for a new TV series on Starz titled Ash vs Evil Dead with director Sam Raimi and producer Rob Tapert also on board. The 10-episode season of 30-minute episodes meant that, after getting a little over four hours of Evil Dead goodness—not counting the ooey, gooey, and gory but Ash-less reboot a couple of years back—in the past 34 years, five new hours would be arriving in the span of just a couple of months beginning with the premiere episode on Halloween night.

Now fans have something to be even more excited about. Three days before Ash vs Evil Dead even premieres, Starz has already officially greenlighted a season two.
