Lily Collins Leaves ‘The Evil Dead’ Remake

A little back story.

After it was announced that not only would the beloved Evil Dead franchise would be rebooted with a script from Diablo Cody and director Fede Alvarez, but that one Lily Collins would be the star of the film. However, that’s not the case.

Variety’s Jeff Sneider tweeted that the actress would be leaving the project due to scheduling issues. No one has popped up replacing the young thespian, but this is such a hot project, it’s impossible to see this thing staying vacant for too long.

Personally, I love the idea of Ash being a female in this new take on the franchise. Knowing that Raimi has given his blessing, one can’t help but have a tad bit of interest in this project. Toss in a great and maturing writer like Cody and an up and coming director like Alvarez, and you have the makings of something, hopefully, special.

What do you think?
