Bryan Singer has been pushing very early looks at X-Men: Apocalypse. These photos are mostly concept art, but they give us an idea of what the film could look like. Today marks the first day of production for the X-Men sequel, and with it comes a new photo of Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
Check out this first look photo here below.
Now, the director originally posted this photo to his Instagram, but it was quickly taken down. It did, however, have the following caption, which may explain why it was deleted:

So maybe it was a marketing thing, or maybe the studio asked him to pull it; whatever the case may be, it doesn’t exist on social media any longer. But since this is the Internet, people know when to save an image, and we have it below thanks to EW.
Now the image below looks more like concept art than an official image, but I’m sure there will be plenty of chances for some photo leaks or official set photo releases in the near future. Alan Cumming famously played the character in X2: X-Men United. Since X-Men: Days of Future Past rendered the original trilogy moot, characters like Nightcrawler and Psylocke are remerging in all new forms.
Writer Simon Kinberg did tweet out an image confirming the film is set in the 1980s,

X-Men: Apocalypse also stars franchise newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Olivia Munn, Lana Condor, Ben Hardy Oscar Isaac, Sophie Turner, and Tye Sheridan, and will see the return of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Evan Peters, and Lucas Till. The film will be released on May 27, 2016.
