Batman fans have waited for weeks wondering if Robert Pattinson or Nicholas Hoult would be playing the Dark Knight in Matt Reeves‘ upcoming film, The Batman. Now we have the answer. Reports confirm that Pattinson has won out. More on this news here below.

After Ben Affleck had a short stint as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League, the actor hung up the cape and cowl for good, leaving Matt Reeves to look for another person to play the Dark Knight in the next standalone film, The Batman.

Now there are some conflicting reports on who might be up for the role. One report is saying that Twilight, Cosmopolis, and Maps to the Stars actor Robert Pattinson is in negotiations to become the new Batman in the superhero detective noir film, while another report says that Pattinson is on the shortlist alongside Mad Max: Fury Road actor Nicholas Hoult. 20th Century Fox has released the final trailer for Dark Phoenix, the latest installment in the X-Men film series.

The movie is written and directed by Simon Kinberg, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Last month we saw an “official trailer” for Tolkien, a J.R.R. Tolkien biopic. But that trailer was much more of a teaser at less than a minute long. Now Fox Searchlight has released a proper official trailer, which runs over two minutes long.

The movie stars Nicholas Hoult as the The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings author, and he’s joined on the cast by Lily Collins, Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris, and Derek Jacobi.

Dark Phoenix may be the final X-Men film under the 20th Century Fox banner before it goes over to Disney. If that is the case, then they will be going out on their own terms. In it, Jean Grey becomes possessed by a cosmic entity and kills nearly all of life in the process. With the X-Men trying to regain control of their friend, there are outside forces that seek to manipulate her. And now we are seeing more of that, and how the new villain (Jessica Chastain) will stop at nothing to use Jean’s (Sophie Turner) new powers for her own nefarious goals.
