CBS is readying to launch in January a new streaming series, Star Trek: Picard, featuring Patrick Stewart‘s famed Starfleet officer Jean-Luc Picard. The actor led the cast of TV’s Star Trek: The Next Generation as the captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise for 7 seasons beginning in 1987 and then in 4 theatrical films, the final being in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. To familiarize viewers with Jean-Luc Picard and the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe, CBS and Paramount have released Star Trek: Picard Movie & TV Collection, a new Blu-ray box set centering around the character.
The 6-disc Blu-ray set includes all four feature films starring TNG cast — Star Trek: Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, Star Trek: Nemesis — as well as the scifi television show’s 2-part episode “The Best of Both Worlds.” If you don’t already own one of the previously released movie Blu-ray box sets, then this new Picard-centric package is the way to go as far as what you get for the price — and you get a lot.
If films like The Irishman, The King, and Marriage Story didn’t make it crystal clear how serious Netflix is about bringing home that Academy Award for Best Picture they were unable to win with Roma last year, they also have someone Oscar is quite fond of, none other than Meryl Streep, a 21-time nominee and three-time winner.
Streep stars in The Laundromat, which Netflix released an official trailer for today. But she’s not alone. Not by a long-shot. The movie is directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh, and she’s joined on the cast by fellow Oscar winner Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas. And they’re just the tip of the iceberg; the cast is massive, with numerous familiar faces. You can watch the trailer and see the full cast in the synopsis below.

That wide-eyed look of wonder you experienced when watching the first Jurassic Park is something that can only be experienced first hand. Of course, whenever a film like that is loved and successful, you are going to want to continue those adventures with sequels. Unfortunately, the Jurassic Park sequels never lived up to the first film. But just before it met its untimely extinction, it was revived, thanks in part to the reboot craze. Though Jurassic World was a box office smash, it wasn’t as loved by critics. In fact, it was widely panned.
Now we are here with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the second chapter of this reboot. This time J.A. Bayona is at the helm using a script written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. But even with some new blood directing this, it isn’t nearly enough to get the film away from the fact that this franchise continues to have stupid people doing stupid things, over and over and over again. My full review below.
The latest look at J.A. Bayona’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has just dropped during Super Bowl LII. As far as Super Bowl spots go, it is pretty by the numbers, fitting in just enough content to get fans excited in the limited amount of time that is given. Remember, studios can pay up to $5 million just for a 30-second piece. So, of course, they will put out their best.
As we were promised, the first trailer for the sequel to Jurassic World, titled Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, has been released.
The movie is set four years after the events of the previous movie, and once again stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt. Directing is J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls, The Orphanage).
