Bill & Ted’s Triumphant Return #1 is a comic that I’ve been waiting for since 1991! When we last left Bill and Ted, they had just won the San Dimas Battle of the Bands, and were on their way to musical greatness and changing the world as we know it. And, they lived happily ever after, right? Not so fast….
BOOM! Studios got writer Brian Lynch to tackle the, well, triumphant return of Bill and Ted, and they couldn’t have made a better choice. This comic truly captures the spirit of the Bill & Ted films, and moves the story along a natural path to what would happen next. And Lynch managed to find a logical place for all the characters that we loved in the movie: The good robot versions of Bill and Ted, The Princesses, Station, The Grim Reaper, and everyone else. With a cast so big, you’d think that someone would get lost in the shuffle, but thankfully, none of them do.

There’s a term I’ve heard stand-up comedians use when trying to determine why a joke didn’t connect with the audience. It’s called “being too inside your own head.” It means that what the comedian thought was funny was too layered in personal experience that the audience didn’t have a way to access the material. Any story that ends with the phrase “I guess you had to be there” is a good example. So too is Midnight Tiger #1.
Man, oh man, do I have a treat for you today. Boom! Studios has given us an exclusive sneak peek of the cover for Fanboys vs. Zombies #16, and being the gracious guy that I am, I’m going to let you see it!
Here at Geeks Of Doom, we have been given other opportunities to show off previous covers and you can see issue 9 here and issue 10 here. But when I saw this one, all I could think was THUNDERCATS, HO! This cover is by Jerry Gaylord (he also does the art in this issue, too).

Our sleeper agent at the BOOM! Studios dream factory smuggled out a trifecta of covers for another upcoming issue of Fanboys VS Zombies. Fanboys VS Zombies #10, which will be hitting newsstands in January 2013, features cover artwork by Jerry Gaylord and Dominike “Domo” Stanton. Previous FvZ covers have paid homage to geeky cultural mainstays like The A-Team, Escape From New York, Scott Pilgrim, and Back to the Future.
