There’s always a winner and a loser in war. So when it comes to the ongoing battle between man and apes in the Planet of the Apes prequel trilogy, we pretty much know which species is going to lose.
The trailer we saw yesterday for War for the Planet of the Apes was only a tease of what’s to come, but today’s new trailer encapsulates what this war has done to both sides and how one of them will do anything to become the victor. Check it out below.
War of the Planet of the Apes recently added East Los High actor Gabriel Chavarria to the cast. The previous two films had some sort of human antagonist, with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes having one human villain and one ape villain. With the new cast it’s not entirely clear if Jason Clarke will be back to reprise his role, but with the film now focused on the war between the humans and the apes, director Matt Reeves is looking to cast new villains.
A new report says that Woody Harrelson (Zombieland, True Detective) has now joined the cast as a villain. More on the story after the jump.
The reboot of the Planet of the Apes film franchise has been built around Caesar (Andy Serkis), the chimp who would help lead his fellow primates in a revolution against their human captors. Since the events of the first film, the Simian flu has nearly wiped out all of humanity, with a few remaining survivors building an immunity. However, tensions are still high as the some of the humans blame the apes for the spread of the sickness, and ultimately, an act of double cross from the ape faction combined with human hostility would lead to war against each other.
It wouldn’t be much of a Planet of the Apes without humans in it. James Franco and Jason Clarke played our human heroes in the last two films, and now War of the Planet of the Apes will be getting a brand new human lead.
New reports are confirming that East Los High actor Gabriel Chavarria will join the human faction in Matt Reeves‘ War of the Planet of the Apes. More on this story below.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes was the seventh film in the historic franchise, and went on to gross $481 million. Though we’ve already moved on to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Rise continues to resonate with fans.
Now new concept art reveals an alternate ending for the film that launched the successful reboot, which has a direct nod to the original film. Hit the jump to check them out.
