Over the weekend Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke a couple of records, and you might have already heard, including Jurassic World‘s all-time biggest domestic opening weekend record.
Because Disney-owned Marvel was cool enough to congratulate Universal Pictures on breaking the record earlier this year, topping previous record-holder Marvel’s The Avengers, it seemed only fair that Universal return the favor. And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Just as Marvel tweeted out a congratulatory image of Chris Pratt riding a Tyrannosaurus rex holding Thor’s hammer Mjolnir in front of the Avengers team, Frank Marshall has tweeted out an image of the T-rex presenting droid BB-8 with a medal.
You can check out the congratulations image below.

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”
Co-written and directed by J.J. Abrams (Star Trek, Super 8), Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the first Star Wars film in over a decade, and the first to be made without creator George Lucas.
Three years ago, Lucas sold his empire to Walt Disney for $4 billion. Enter Abrams, the director handpicked by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy to reignite the franchise. And reignite it he has, along with co-writer Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and a cast of new heroes and villains.
It’s a slow news day, as you might have expected, so why not watch some more remakes of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer!
This time it’s a pair of trailers that were remade using Grand Theft Auto V as well as its online multiplayer option Grand Theft Auto Online. One uses player-created characters and the other uses more familiar faces from the game.
There have been plenty of debates regarding the recently released Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens teaser trailer, as was expected. One of the more heated topics being discussed from the 88-second trailer has been the unique, claymore-esque lightsaber shown above. Some dig it, some loathe it, and some are smartly waiting until they know more about it before forming an opinion on the matter.
On a recent episode of The Colbert Report, Star Wars fan and future Late Show host Stephen Colbert shared his thoughts on the trailer, including a defense of the lightsaber in question. You can see the video below.
We still know very little about Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Fortunately we will get a little hint when the first trailer debuts at nine select theaters this Friday. Unlike the Star Wars we have seen in the past, these spinoffs provide a unique perspective on the Star Wars universe while still standing on their own. These spinoff films are scheduled to be released in between the primary numbered movies being directed by J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson. The first to be released will be from Godzilla director Gareth Edwards and writer Gary Whitta.
Since the beginning the plot to these movies have been shrouded in secrecy. But /Film has unveiled a rumor about the plot for the first spinoff. According to them, it will tie into obtaining important plans. Hit the jump for more.
