Katy Perry Super Bowl Sharks’ Talk Show Appearance (Video)
  |  @   |

If you watched Katy Perry‘s Super Bowl halftime performance on Sunday, then you undoubtedly noticed the dancing sharks on stage with the “Dark Horse” singer, especially Left Shark, who stole the spotlight when he seemingly decided to do his own thing during the choreographed sequence. Since that night, Left Shark has become an internet sensation.

The Super Bowl Half-Time Show Sharks made a rare TV interview appearance last night on CBS’s Late Late Show, which was guest-hosted by Perry’s on-again off-again love, musician John Mayer, who said he watched the performance at the stadium’s family box (so…. on again?).

Check out the video of the sharks’ appearance here below, which shows that clearly this aquatic dancing partnership is doomed to fail now that Left Shark — the fuck up — is getting all the attention.

Adam Frazier, Geeks Of Doom’s resident Katy Perry fanatic (who found the singer’s Part Of Me film “exceedingly entertaining, interesting, and downright fun”), had this reaction to upon hearing Mayer talk about watching the singer’s half-time show: “I really hate John Mayer. I love Katy Perry, but she’s got better taste in sharks than men.”

Here’s Right Shark — the one who actually did the correct dance — excited about his Super Bowl stint:

By the way, any of you who want to cash in on the Left Shark phenomenon, think again: Katy Perry owns those sharks! The “Teenage Dream” singer’s lawyers have already sent a Cease and Desist order to Orlando resident Fernando Sosa, a political sculptor who made a 3D printout of Left Shark and offered it up for sale soon after the Super Bowl.

But Sosa apparently plans to fight the order, as he’s obtained legal counsel of his own and has a launched a modest GoFundMe campaign to help with the costs.

And while Perry might think she owns the copyright on these sharks, I think JAWS director and Back To the Future II executive producer Steven Spielberg would beg to differ:
